Cross Country has finished up at Surrey Centre and the kids had to race lots of other schools. There were 3 morning practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the 5 after-school meets on Tuesdays at Fleetwood Park.
The grades for Cross Country were grades 3 - 7 and the ribbons went up to 50th place, but there were lots of schools so it was hard to get a good place. Every school had about 5-10 runners for its team. The run was also very long: the grade 3 and 4 kids ran 1.25 kms and the grade 5, 6 and 7 kids ran 2.2 kms.
“Cross country is a great way to get exercise and it’s all about running and having fun,” says Ms. Schnare, one of the cross country teachers. The last cross country meet was on October 18 but will start again next year.
